At the height of their power, the Khmers ruled the lands from Myanmar to Vietnam, from China to Thailand. The legacy and influence of this grand kingdom is still evident across the entire region today, a thousand years later. Venture off the popular tourist trails to discover the more remote vestiges of the empire. This journey will take you from the heady Thai metropolis of Bangkok through laid-back Laos and rural Cambodia before culminating at the Khmer kingdom's crowning glory – Angkor Wat.
