18 most memorable travel experiences
During the month of May, Travel Indochina marked the occasion of our 18th birthday. After spending the past 18 years in Asia, learning more everyday about this region which we’re all so passionate about, we’ve drawn together our 18 most memorable travel experiences which we’d like to share. Click here to view the list.
Our style of travel
We have hand-picked our hotels and resorts to reflect high quality, character and the best location. Our travellers enjoy the combination of expertly-designed itineraries, tasteful hotels, insightful Western tour leaders and local guides, and value for money. Both our expat and local staff who live and work across the region will deliver unparalleled on-the-ground support when you travel with us (with offices in Saigon, Danang, Hanoi, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Vientiane… and we’re still expanding).
Small groups... Less is more!
Small group travel allows for flexibility and informality, which is why our journeys operate with an average of 12 travellers and a guaranteed maximum of 16. Because groups are small, we’re able to accommodate the interests of our travellers while allowing plenty of opportunities for independent exploration. We offer the ease and flexibility of independent travel without the hassles.
Asia specialists
At Travel Indochina, we’re proud to stake our claim as a true specialist. Asia is all we do. We’ve made a bigger commitment to Asia than any small group travel company by basing ourselves in the region. Our six offices across our seven destinations, employing both local and expatriate staff, enable us to stay ahead of everyone else. Our bases in Asia also allow us to offer the best combination of value, experience and timely on the ground support to our travellers.
Our people
You have the benefit of our professional English-speaking local guides and expert Western tour leaders throughout your journey. Their insight and knowledge means you can expect experiences no guidebook can offer, and you will be inspired by their passion. Having them accompany you for the entire journey means they can impart their vast knowledge and experience of the local culture and history and can answer any questions you may have. Instead of just visiting sites and leaving with only photos, you will take away an insight into the extraordinary cultures and histories of the destinations we visit and some amazing memories of the experiences had along the way.
Innovative itineraries
Some travel companies equate expertise with a large raft of itineraries. Not us. The journeys on this website represent the best of each country and will suit a variety of interests. Many travellers looking for a more extensive regional experience choose to combine two - or more - of our journeys. Each Small Group Journey is paced to give you time to develop familiarity with the key places we visit. We usually stay two or three nights in an area, preferring to explore places in some depth rather than constantly moving at the expense of your experience. For many trips, we offer both Classic and Deluxe options. Classic hotels are clean, comfortable and centrally located while our Deluxe hotels include some of Asia’s most historic and atmospheric accommodation. Most of our journeys offer you an opportunity to interact with the locals, to gain an insight into their way of life.
Putting something back
Travel Indochina supports a number of organisations in developing Asia which assist the disadvantaged, poor and disabled. We also support other organisations dedicated to the improvement of education, health and living standards. Details of these organisations are given in the responsible travel pages of this site.
Many of our travellers are keen to contribute to the countries they visit. This may be as simple as the interaction they have with local people - their efforts to build an understanding of cultural nuances, history or a simple exchange of stories with local people in a village, restaurant or school. Others are interested in making a monetary contribution to organisations active in the advancement of literacy, education or health in the region they are visiting. Your tour leader or local guide will be more than happy to assist you in making contact with local organisations. You can also refer to the 'Donating for a Cause' section of our responsible travel pages.
Our travellers
As a traveller with Travel Indochina, expect to be captivated by all of the wonders of the country or countries you travel in. We do not operate sanitised coach tours. Your travel experience will be, in equal parts, what we do for you and what you do for yourself. One of the most striking features of our travellers is their diversity. They span all ages, they come from all over the world and they bring with them a wide variety of interests and backgrounds. What they share is a love of Asia.
