India climate

India is a country with diverse weather patterns which vary greatly from north to south, and of course according to the vast variations in altitude. In general the best time to visit India is during October to April, when temperatures are less hot. Many National Parks close during the summer and monsoon months from May to September, as do some hotels.

WEATHER
Northern Plains In Delhi, Rajasthan and across the north, October to April brings warm, dry days. In December and January nights can be very cold, but days are typically above 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). In April temperatures can reach 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) and continue to rise to around the mid 40s Celsius (110 degrees Fahrenheit) until June, when the monsoon comes. Monsoon season lasts until September).
South From Mumbai south, the climate is typically tropical, with daytime temperatures into around the low 30s Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit). Hill stations can be cool at night in December and January. June to September can be hot, with humid monsoonal conditions in most areas. Showers may occur in November and December, but the months of October to April are still considered the best time to travel.
Himalayas The winter months can be very cold and travel to higher altitudes is not advisable. From April to October weather is mild to warm during the day with occasional showers. Nights are cool to cold, especially at high altitudes.
